This place of worship belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints took 40 years to complete and is only the fourth completed temple of its kind out of 100. Situated on a 10-acre site and boasting 170 rooms, the temple is the centerpiece of Temple Square. It was dedicated in 1893 and now acts as the meeting point for the church's prophet and apostles. When illuminated at night its magical appearance is one of Salt Lake City's most impressive architectural sights.

A wonderfully impressive Roman Catholic cathedral with a Romanesque façade, the Cathedral of Madeline was recently restored in 1990. Boasting beautiful stained glass windows and Gothic Revival chambers within, the church welcomes visitors to come and view its charming interior and Eccles organ. Standing in the heart of central Salt Lake City, the Cathedral of the Madeline, other attractions at the Cathedral of the Madeline include magnificent examples of statues, gargoyles, a large pipe organ, guided tours and regular daily masses.

Once the central place of worship for the Mormon Church, this historic religious site is otherwise known as the Mormon Tabernacle and is home to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, who hold regular recitals and have appeared on the radio many times, performing around the world. Constructed partly from native white pine, the pine benches and pillars were painted over by the builders to resemble oak and marble so as to offer only the best to the Lord (who presumably wouldn't notice). Boasting outstanding acoustic properties and a unique three dimensional ellipse roof, the Tabernacle is still used today as an overflow for those attending the General Conferences held by the Church every six months. Salt Lake City's famous Tabernacle on Temple Square is located in the city center and other highlights at the Salt Lake City Tabernacle include popular daily recitals on the church's enormous pipe organ, impressive acoustics and extensive guided tours of the building.
